September was a whirlwind of action! From final training sessions gearing us up for the season, to introducing Wings of Valor to fresh audiences. Volunteer Training
Volunteer training equips our team of volunteers with the skills and knowledge to feel confident in their roles, leading to the World-Class Experience our guests deserve.
Our Field Support/Hunt Assistance team received guidance from veterinarians to ensure the safety of our four-legged volunteers, a nurse on AED, CPR, and basic first aid, and Robert M on staying safe in the shooting shack and in the field. Safety is our top priority, but we must always be prepared for emergencies.
Veterinarians discussed early-season heat and mid-season cold. They shared tips to keep dogs safe and healthy. They mentioned a rattlesnake venom shot, useful for hunters in snake areas.
Shared with the women of Chancellor SD, Rebekah’s Circle about Wings of Valor Lodge’s mission. Always grateful to give tours of the lodge. Many of these women have family—husbands and children—who have served or are currently serving.
Thankful for Adam & Cooper, from O’Gorman High School, they did the final cleaning before our guests arrived. Hardworking youth are truly valuable.

Warriors Never Give Up, a local non-profit serving Veterans through outdoor activities, came for a Friday pheasant hunt. Because of the warm weather, we did a tower hunt early before it got too hot for the dogs and guests.

James M a Veteran Guests shares “Retired Air Force, began my career with 2 1/2 tours in Southeast Asia and finished 24 yrs later after 3 rotations to Middle East. Have always found it difficult to socialize with civilians, felt uncomfortable around them, like we had nothing in common. Wings of Valor was an unforgettable feeling, socializing with fellow service members, whether it was pheasant hunting, "Annie Oakley" clay shooting, sitting around dinner table at mealtime or fire pit in evening was a memorable time. The facilities are outstanding and cannot thank all the volunteers enough for everything they did to make us comfortable and ensure we had an enjoyable experience.”
