Our fifth annual Gala was a huge success as we hosted over 400 guests at The District in Sioux Falls. It was a record crowd and a great evening, supported mostly by a host of passionate volunteers willing to support what has become our major fundraiser of the year. Special thanks go to all our Pillar Sponsors who not only show up but support the event with their dollars and special auction items. All the proceeds of the event go towards supporting those who served. Our special guest speaker was Brigadier General Mike Oster, a South Dakota native and supporter of the mission. Mike talked about the importance of Wings of Valor Lodge in the healing of mind, body, and spirit for all veterans. He quoted several times from his book, “It Starts with Attitude”, referencing that attitude makes the difference in our status and fortune. Byron Nogelmeier was named Volunteer of the Year for his loyalty and for guiding our hunts since our beginnings. He and his sidekick, Semper, a black lab, are present at almost all the hunts on the weekends. Evin Thompson was recognized for his work as an Ambassador, having volunteered his efforts five times this past season alone. As most know, the Ambassadors at Wings of Valor Lodge are at the heart of the mission.
