From the Field: Impact updates from Wings of Valor Lodge

The Sanford Blue Crew has been coming out to the lodge regularly for the past five years, generously volunteering their time to help spruce up the grounds. Their dedication and hard work have made a noticeable difference, and we truly value and appreciate their ongoing effort in keeping the Lodge looking great year after year.

Volunteer Training

Volunteer training equips our team of volunteers with the skills and knowledge to feel confident in their roles, leading to the World-Class Experience our guests deserve.

Led by Sean Adams, Chris Reiser, Machelle Kocer and Evin Thompson, our Ambassadors came together with the purpose of enhancing their roles and responsibilities for this hunt season.

Each hunt weekend will feature two dedicated Ambassadors who are available to support and guide guests throughout the experience. We are here to engage in intentional conversations that foster personal growth and inspire a renewed sense of purpose.

These ambassadors may have retired from their official careers serving our nation, but they still carry a strong and enduring heart dedicated to serving their fellow veterans—especially those who may not have yet found their way back home. Their commitment to support and guide fellow servicemen and women remains unwavering.

Final training before the hunt season starts will be:

Aleta Lindell, representing Ms. Jaspers House in Sioux Falls, SD, led a valuable training session for our Food Service and Hospitality team. During the presentation, she highlighted the importance of working quietly and remaining largely unnoticed while playing a key role in delivering service. Her focus was on how this discreet approach contributes significantly to maintaining the world-class experience we strive to create for every guest who visits us.

The team practiced focusing on creating an exceptional experience that emphasized attention to detail while consistently sharing extravagant hospitality with our valued guests.

GUNNING FOR OUR HEROES EVENT AND THIRD ANNUAL POKER RUN

The thunderous rumble of the Poker Run bikes brought the entire afternoon to life. Despite the intense heat and heavy humidity, we thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon filled with delicious food, warm fellowship, and the opportunity to discover and learn more about the meaningful mission of the Lodge.

The Poker Run began from two distinct starting points: J & L Harley Davidson in Sioux Falls, SD, and Klock Werks in Mitchell, SD. Riders from both locations eventually converged at the Lodge property by 4:00 p.m., where a delicious dinner, catered by Cleavers Market, was served. Following the meal, participants enjoyed an engaging live auction hosted by Ryan Wieman. The entire event was held in support of our important mission: Supporting Those Who Served.

Standing Strong with Veterans Through Wings of Valor Lodge

When it comes to supporting America’s veterans, Winsupply of West Sioux Falls, SD believes in action, gratitude, and community. Their journey with Wings of Valor Lodge began unexpectedly but has grown into a partnership deeply rooted in respect for those who served.

A Humbling Beginning

Steve Holmes, representing Winsupply, recalls the moment it started:

“I was invited to the WOVL Gala by friends. I left the gala humbled after listening to the presenters tell their stories. I had to pick up the items I had won at the auction, so I went out to pick them up and was able to get a tour of the facility with Bruce. I thought that was it. A few months later, Dan showed up to talk more about a sponsorship opportunity. It was perfect timing—as a company we were looking to give back to the community in some form, and this was a perfect fit.”

A Deep Connection to Veterans

For Winsupply, the connection is clear and personal.

“Veterans fought and died for our freedom. This is one way for us to say thanks and give support to people who gave some or all, for us as Americans.”

Their dedication is more than financial—it’s about honoring sacrifice and investing in healing for those who carried the weight of service.
